In an effort to raise awareness of the plight of amphibians, SAVE THE FROGS! Founder Dr. Kerry Kriger will be lecturing on the amphibian extinction crisis throughout North America this year in 2010.

In an effort to promote the 2nd Annual Save The Frogs Poetry Contest and to raise awareness of amphibian extinctions, Dr. Kerry Kriger will be reciting Frog Poetry at an Open Poetry Reading sponsored by Poetry Santa Cruz.

The night begins with refreshments and a presentation on amphibian extinctions by Save The Frogs Founder Dr. Kerry Kriger. Dr. Kriger will discuss the threats to frogs; why frogs are important; ways ordinary people can do extraordinarily simple things to help save the frogs; and then he will recap the first two years of SAVE THE FROGS! and outline his vision for the future. Following the talk, SAVE THE FROGS! Advisory Committee Member Dr. Nina DÕAmore will lead a sunset hike to the ReserveÕs rookery ponds where we will catch frogs and learn firsthand about the Slough's amazing amphibians.
In an effort to raise awareness of the plight of amphibians, the scientific community has declared April 30th, 2010 'Save The Frogs Day'. On this day we encourage the appreciation and celebration of amphibians by people from all walks of life.
In 2009, events took place in 15 countries, and Save The Frogs Day was legally recognized by the Governor of Virginia, the Mayor of Vancouver, British Columbia and the Chairman of Prince William County, Virginia.
Get your school, museum, zoo or community involved this year!
Save The Frogs supporters will be holding peaceful protests at Restaurant Gary Danko in San Francisco and at Uncle Julio's Rio Grande restaurants in VA, TX, IL, FL, GA and MD. These restaurants participate in the ecologically damaging frog legs trade, and refuse to address the issue. Learn more and register to take part.
The magnificent wetlands and wildlife wilderness of Lough Boora not only host some of the most innovative environmental sculptures in Ireland, they are also the site of IrelandÕs inaugural Save The Frogs Day event.

The contest will help raise awareness for our cause, and the essays will be used to create a book to raise money for SAVE THE FROGS!.
This international conference (NOT held by Save The Frogs!) will take place at James Cook University in Townsville, Australia.
The 5 day conference (23-27 June, including a field day) will highlight international research and management in the fields of epidemiology, microbiology, pathogenesis, virulence, immunity, bioaugmentation and treatment relating to chytridiomycosis. ÊOne day will also be dedicated to other emerging amphibian diseases.
The 3 day workshop (29 June-1 July) following the conference is most suitable for researchers, wildlife managers, amphibian keepers and students new to the field of amphibian diseases.Ê We will help you to develop skills in diagnosis, microbial culture, field work, husbandry, necropsy, hygiene, treatment, study design and epidemiological analyses.
Details of registration and submission of abstracts will be available in February 2010. Students and researchers from developing countries may be eligible for financial assistance. Please email andrea.phillott@jcu.edu.au to register your interest and for further details.
